The First Look: Shriners Hospitals for Children Open

Brooks Koepka, making his 2019-20 PGA TOUR season debut, joins early-season winners Joaquin Niemann and Sebastián Muñoz in Las Vegas for the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open. Koepka, a three-time winner last season, looks to get off to a quick start this fall as he builds toward the Presidents Cup in December, where he will be a vital cog in the Americans’ hopes against the International Team.

Toronto Home Prices Plunge in June

According to the Toronto Real Estate Board (TREB), the price for a single family detached house in Toronto fell in price by 1.80% in June 2017 compared to the previous month. This is the largest monthly price decline since this data set has been tracked in February 2012.

A number of factors likely contributed to the decline. The Province of Ontario and the Canadian Federal government (with OFSI and CMHC) have introduced or are introducing measures aimed at “cooling” the housing market. This may have spooked buyers and encouraged sellers to list their homes. The prospect of higher interest rates also serves as a bearish factor.

TREB data shows an increased number of listings in June compared to previous months, and a decrease in the number of transactions. This is a bearish indicator, and could signal lower prices for home sales in the near term.

CoinRoster lists a monthly betting pool on the price of Toronto houses using the monthly TREB single family Toronto house price as our index. Click this link to see the current odds.
